Ants can be destructive to a home

After Ant Control Service has been Performed

  • Be patient. The bait being used may attract large numbers of ants and that is exactly how and why it works. The ants will carry it back to the nest and spread the bait to more ants, thus eliminating the colony.
  • Do not spray any insecticides or “squash” any ants. Killing worker ants will prevent them from returning to the colony with the bait.
  • Don’t use strong cleaners around the baits. Ants leave chemical trails so that other ants can find the bait.
  • Once ants locate the bait, do not disturb them. If you see ants trailing in another area, you may move a bait that has not been located by the ants. This can help the baiting process. When the ZOLO pest control technician arrives, discuss the situation and provide detailed information on everywhere you are seeing or have seen ants. We also be providing you with detailed information about what we will be doing to control the ants and any post-treatment instructions.

Pest Control Preparation Sheet for Bedbugs

  • Wash all bed linens in hot water and place them in a dryer on a high heat setting. Promptly remove the bedding from the dryer, place it in a plastic garbage bag, and seal it tight until after the treatment is complete.
  •  Do the same with all of your clothing, emptying out drawers and closets, and storing in plastic bags away from the home until after the treatment.
  • Take down all curtains and gather pillows, stuffed animals, towels, and floor mats. Place the items directly in the wash then dry on a high heat setting for at least 30 minutes before placing them into plastic bags. Anything that cannot be washed should be treated on high in the dryer for a minimum of 30 minutes and stored in plastic bags until after the treatment.
  •  Inspect any items in the home that cannot be washed such as pictures, books, electronics, frames, and toys and place in plastic bags or plastic storage containers. Remember, most bed bugs reside within 10 to 15 feet of the bed so you will want to pay special attention to that area of the home.
  • Take everything off closet floors throughout the house including bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms, and hallways.
  • Put away all food, dishes, pots and pans, and other small kitchen items in closed cupboards, drawers or sealed storage containers.
  • Move all furniture and other items 24 inches (2 feet) away from walls.
  • Do NOT put smaller items on top of appliances, couches, or other furniture.
  •  Plants can remain in your home but should also be moved away from windows and walls.
  • Remove all books from bookshelves and store them in storage containers in the middle of the room.
  • Take down all mirrors, photos and wall hangings and stack them neatly in the middle of the room.
  •  Sweep flooring and vacuum all carpets and upholstery. Turn over or move furnishings, open futons, and sleeper sofas, and thoroughly vacuum all items. After vacuuming, promptly dispose of the vacuum’s contents into a plastic  bag and immediately put it in an outdoor garbage receptacle.
  • Unplug all electrical devices prior to treatment.
  •  Remove all pets from the premises.

After Bedbug Treatment has been Performed

  • Seal all mattresses and pillows. Mattresses should be sealed in mattress encasements, and pillows should be sealed in vinyl pillow covers. Keep all mattresses and pillows sealed for a full year after treatment, so any lingering bed bugs die of starvation.
  • Don’t enter your home or treated rooms for at least 4-5 hours after treatment. If you or anyone in your family is sick or has a compromised immune system, talk to your doctor about when it’s safe to re-enter your home.
  • Open all your doors and windows once you do re-enter your home to air it out.
  • Thoroughly wash and clean all the surfaces in your home, especially in your kitchen and bathroom.
  • Vacuum your entire home every day for at least four days following treatment. If your vacuum cleaner requires a bag, only use disposable bags and throw it away in an outdoor garbage can immediately after vacuuming.
  • Re inspect your home regularly after treatment. Don’t just look in rooms that were previously affected. Inspect all adjacent rooms as well. Bed bugs can travel to another room when threatened by the treatment. Sticky traps and bed bug interceptors can help you perform a thorough inspection. If you see bed bugs after treatment, call us immediately.
  • Keep implementing preventive measure to protect and avoid any future bed bug infestations. When you travel, check hotel reviews for any mention of bed bugs, and choose another hotel if you find any negative reviews. When you arrive at the hotel, inspect the bed frame, linens, mattress, headboard, and bedside tables for any signs of bed bugs. Immediately switch hotels if you find any and leave a review to warn future guests. Keep your luggage on a luggage rack instead of on the floor or bed of a hotel. Don’t store your clothes or belongings in the hotel dresser or bedside tables. At home, wash all your bedding regularly. If anything can’t be machine washed, put it in the dryer on the highest heat setting to kill any bed bugs or eggs.
  • Bed bugs infestations can make your home feel like a nightmare, but ZOLO pest control is here to help you take back your home from bed bugs and stop infestations in their tracks. With our 100% satisfaction guarantee, you can rest easy knowing ZOLO pest control is committed to ridding your home of bed bugs for good.

Things to do after pest control treatment

As a general practice let’s take a look at what you need to do after the pest control service is completed. These before and after pest control tips are highly essential to ensure successful service. If you had to vacate the premises, wait until the recommended time before you head back home. If you accidentally left any food outside, throw them in the garbage. Even if they used organic chemicals for the pest control process, such food will never be entirely healthy for you.
At ZOLO we are trained and will not leave behind a mess. There should be no need to immediately sweep and mop the area. In many cases, it may wipe off any treated baseboards, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment. Pest control treatments are usually customized based on your needs. So, you will be told when you can clean again and if there are any areas you should not wash. Do not do a deep cleaning for at least a week.
If you have any leaking taps or drainage pipes in the house, get them fixed as soon as possible. Water from leaks serve as an entry for pests, and may lead to a re-infestation. Paper can be a source of food for many pests. Wet paper (of any kind) and brown bags (used to carry groceries) are the ones to look out for. Do not store old newspapers and magazines in or near the kitchen.
Wear a pair of disposable gloves when you handle sprayed surfaces for the first time. Even while unwrapping objects, take care not to touch any surface with naked hands. In the days following the treatment, you will likely continue to find dead pests every now and then with diminishing frequency. Make sure to check the trouble spots regularly and keep them clean. Dead pests can attract other pests, compounding your problems. These lists are by no means exhaustive. You will need to co-ordinate with the ZOLO pest control team to ensure you are truly prepared and have the best service delivered to you.
